The Peer Educator student staff team is available to present a variety of leadership and organization development workshops, as described below.  If you would like a presentation on a topic not listed, let us know. We may be able to tailor a session just for you or help you find another campus resource. To make arrangements for a workshop, fill out our on-line workshop request form at least 2 weeks in advance. 


Being a Juicy Student Leader ( 1 hr)

A juicy leader is happy, creative, and well-balanced. This interactive workshop explores various ways to introduce a bit more juiciness into our lives and leadership positions.


Conflict Resolution (1 hr)

Conflict is normal in groups, but dealing with it can be difficult and intimidating. During this presentation learn tips for successfully dealing with conflict resolution and giving effective feedback. This is a great session to do even before conflict occurs in your group!


Creating Your Organization’s Vision & Mission (2 ½ hr)

This workshop is designed for both new and existing organizations looking to invigorate their group and generate new passion around the organization’s purpose. Group members will work together to identify shared values and to create a shared mission or vision statement.


Embracing Vulnerability in Your Journey (1 hour)

While it is the birthplace of joy, faith, creativity and belonging, vulnerability could also be looked at as the core that drives anxiety, shame and fear in you. Dare to challenge yourself to explore how you can embrace vulnerability in your journey as a life-long learner and leader. This workshop exposes you to what leading researcher, Brené Brown, says about vulnerability and how you can use it to your advantage in creating meaningful connections with others, and most importantly, with yourself.


Ethics in Leadership and Decision Making (45 – 60 min)

Learn the principles to make sure your organization is ethical and has ethical leadership. Examine situations where ethical decisions need to be made, and learn what questions to ask yourself when making an ethical decision.


Facilitating Meetings and Discussions (30 min)

Learn the basics of running fun, productive meetings, including tips for developing agendas and minutes, as well as facilitating discussions and decision making.


Fundraising Basics (15 – 30 min)

Get an overview of funding options for clubs and organizations on campus, including one-time and annual resources, and how to write an effective funding proposal.


Dare, Play, Learn (20-30 min)

Looking for ways to get connected to campus and get involved in fun, meaningful ways? This informative presentation goes over the benefits of involvement, and ideas for getting involved at OSU. This presentation is especially helpful for newer students.


Leadership for Introverts (1 hr)

Designed as a tool for everyone; introverts, extroverts and anyone in between, to develop a strong understanding of what introversion really is. Find the value of introverted people in team settings and as leaders! We provide tips for introverts to be successful leaders, and opportunities to determine how to best work with introverts.


Leadership and You (1 hr)

Who are you as a leader? Do you even see yourself as a leader? What kind of leader do you want to be? In order to answer these questions, this thought-provoking session involves exploring various leadership models and philosophies, as well as your personal thoughts on what it means to be a leader.


Leadership Styles and Group Dynamics/True Colors (1 hr)

Learn about your leadership style, how to work with people that have different styles than your own, and why it is important to have people with different styles on the same team.


Leadership for Social Change (1 hr)

Discover how to foster change by exploring the Social Change Leadership model. We will talk about why people tend to be resistant to change, as well as tips for helping you to prepare and plan for effective change.


Motivating Group Members (60 min)

Frustrated with low energy and lack of commitment? We all experience moments when we’re not feeling very productive. Learn about different methods for motivating yourself and others.


Officer Transition (15 – 30 min)

Instead of just leaving new officers to flounder and figure it out on their own, out-going officers can be helpful in setting things up for a successful transition. In this workshop you will learn how to pass on information about the history of the group, successes and challenges from the previous year, and projects that are still in progress. There will also be suggestions for how to help the new officers start off in the right direction.


Parliamentary Procedure (30-60 min)

Learn the basics of Parliamentary Procedures (Robert’s Rules of Order) for leading a meeting, facilitating discussions, and voting procedures.


Recruitment and Retention (30 – 60 min)

Get tips on how to recruit new members and keep the members you have.


Setting Goals and Expectations (15 – 30 min)

Successful groups are able to define what they want to accomplish and the steps they need to take to make it happen. Does your organization need some ideas on writing goals and/or expectations? Let us help you get your action plan started.


Working with Committees (30 – 60 min)

Do you find it hard to delegate? Are the leaders in your organization always doing everything? Committees will allow your organization to be more productive, will allow members to choose activities that interest them, and can serve as training grounds for future leaders. Learn how to create and run effective committees with this workshop.
