Stained Glass Orientation

Tuesday 5:30-6                         Apr. 17

This one-half hour class is REQUIRED for all new and returning members who are NOT registered in a stained glass class. Learn how the glass studio works and be informed of changes or updates to the studio. Pre-Registration Required.

 

Kiln Formed Glass/Glass Fusing Orientation

Torchwork/Lampworking Orientation

Stained Glass “Window Candy”  Workshop

Make your own simple yet lovely, glass sun catcher from 3-5 glass pieces using copper foiling technique. All supplies are provided and you will leave with a finished sun catcher to hang in your window, or with Mother’s Day just around the corner…give a special gift to a special someone! This class is an excellent introduction to creating with stained glass and learning how to cut glass. 

 

Fused Glass Spring-Themed Workshop     NEW

Colorful glass keepsakes to celebrate Spring! Create beautiful, vibrant glass pieces capturing spring’s floral bounty. A fun one-day workshop. No glass experience necessary. Tools and glass provided by the Craft Center. Bring a snack.

 

Friday the 13th Hot Romance: Torch Date Night    NEW

There’s no bad luck when you heat things up with a torch! Learn some of the basic techniques used in modern soft-glass beadmaking. The focus will be on flame shop safety, bead shaping and spring themed design! Torches, equipment and all supplies are provided and you will leave with several glass items. Wear cotton or natural fiber clothing and closed-toe shoes.

Torchwork Explorations in Borosilicate

Tuesdays  6- 8:30                     May 8 to May 29

GLA-17 Todd Weber                 Class Fee: $ 35 plus $20 Gas Fee

Further your torch skill sets in this 4 week class working and sculpting Borosilicate glass. Students will create a floral style marble/stopper/pendant using implosion techniques. Color prep; twisty's, stringers and color mixing as well as their application will be discussed. Prior borosilicate experience is strongly recommended.

 

Beautiful Stained Glass 

Tuesdays  6:30-9                                                    Apr. 17 to June 5                    

GLA-21    Marilyn Hinds & Marcia Babel             Class Fee: $70 

View the world through a stained glass piece that you create! Learn to cut glass, draft a pattern and solder using traditional copper foil methods. Design your own simple pattern or select a beginning level design from several pattern options. Beginners will strongly encouraged to limit their project to 8-10 pieces or less. Continuing students will work on more complex projects. Two instructors often teach this class...so lots of individual attention! Equipment and tools are provided but students furnish glass and supplies; these are available for purchase at the Craft Center.

 

Beginning Glass Fusing

Mondays  7-9:30                              Apr. 16  to June 4 (No Class 5/28)

GLA-29    Deb Scheele                    Class Fee: $60 (plus additional $40 for startup glass kit)

Make colorful glass decorative or functional creations! In this 7-week class you will be guided through the process of basic cutting, grinding, fusing, and glass slumping. This includes an introduction to basic tools, glass selection, and firing techniques.  This class is fun and packed with projects ideas, repeat students can learn additional techniques and strengthen their skill set.  Glass cutting experience is recommended; the Sun Catcher workshop a great introduction to cutting. Beginners will purchase a special glass kit with start- up materials. Repeat students have option to purchase special kit or provide their own glass, available for purchase at the Craft Center.

 

Glass Fusing - Intermediate Techniques and Projects

Thursdays 7-9:30                                              Apr. 19 to June 7

GLA-31  Marsha Rathja & Deanna Peters      Class Fee: $60

In this 8-week class, learn new fusing techniques and make projects designed to utilize these new techniques. Prior glass fusing experience is REQUIRED. Beginning Glass Fusing will meet this requirement. Students will provide their own glass or purchase new glass from the Craft Center.

 

Beginning Borosilicate Lampwork

Thursdays  6:00- 8:30               Apr. 19  to June 7

GLA-37  Todd Weber                Class Fee: $ 55  plus $35 Gas Fee

Discover the thrill of “Boro”! In this 8-week class learn the basics of torch operation and safety procedures for working with Borosilicate glass. Delve into some challenging & fun projects with a keen focus on the technical aspects of the medium. Learn how to make pendants, beads, marbles, sculpture, inside out work and much more. No experience necessary. Students will purchase their own glass; instructor will assist students in making selections in the first class.

 

Beginning Soft Glass: Beads & More!   

Wednesdays 6-8:30                         Apr. 18 to June 6

GLA-38   Kelly Ensor                       Class Fee: $ 55  plus $35 Gas Fee

Discover the diversity of soft glass. In this 8- week class learn to make beads, jewelry and/or elements for mixed media or fusing projects. Learn safety, tools and techniques as you gain a good foundation in working the torch. Students will purchase coe-104 or coe-90 rods from the Craft Center supply store on the first night of class with the assistance of the instructor. Emphasis will be placed on the execution of elements and finished vibrant glass works such as beads and simple sculptures. Join the fun and make a variety of unique glass items…perfect gifts for family and friends!  Wear cotton or natural fiber clothing and closed-toed shoes.
