Digital Photography Computer Lab Orientation

This one-half hour class is REQUIRED for all returning members who are NOT registered in a digital photography class. Learn how the computer studio works and be informed of changes or updates to the studio. Pre-registration Required.
Production Studio Access Workshop NEW
Thursday 6:30-8:30 Jan. 18
PHO-2 Heather March Class Fee: $20
This workshop is REQUIRED for Production Studio use and is for EXPERIENCED members who have taken our Beginning Studio Lighting class or have comparable experience and knowledge. Successful demonstration of ability will permit member to utilize the production studio lights and backdrops for portraiture, video or still photography utilizing their own camera. Members will be responsible for safe and careful use of equipment, incurring the cost to replace any equipment they damage due to negligence or misuse. The studio is for amateur use, and not intended for production or small business use. Membership required for studio use.
Shutterbug 101: Take Great Photos!
Mondays 6-8: 30 Jan. 22 to Feb. 12

A four-week introductory class designed to familiarize you with your "beyond point-and-shoot" camera (digital, SLR and mirrorless interchangeable-lens cameras, as well as advanced, single fixed-lens cameras). An individual camera consultation will occur on the first class…Bring your camera and its MANUAL! Topics of discussion will include shooting "modes," what makes a good exposure, best camera settings to use for portraits or for action shooting, basics of composition, lens and gear choices, etc. A field trip will be scheduled. Attendance at 1st class mandatory.
Beginning Digital Photography & Adobe Lightroom Editing
Thursdays 6:30-9 Jan. 25 to Mar. 15
PHO-22 Heather March Class Fee: $60
This 8-week digital photography class is for all beginners wanting to learn the basics of photography from image capture to post-production using Adobe Lightroom. Learn to identify desirable lighting, to compose an image, and how to correctly know your camera’s settings. With Adobe Lightroom, learn best practices from importing, managing, and protecting digital images on your computer, photo editing, and file preparation for various methods of output. Class will include field trips to explore camera usage.
It is recommended that participants bring their digital camera and a large (1TB rec'd) external hard-drive for their digital library. Don’t own a camera? Camera loan and rental options will be discussed.
Beginning Studio Lighting
Tuesdays 6:30-9:00 Jan. 23 to Mar. 13
PHO-23 Heather March Class Fee: $60
This 8-week studio photography class is for all beginners to learn the basics of studio lighting as it applies to capturing photographic images in the best light! Learn how to properly set up and utilize studio equipment to best illuminate the subject you wish to photograph; exploring both portraiture and still life. Some prior camera knowledge/familiarity is a plus. An excellent class for students with 3-d projects that need to be photographed for portfolios or artists looking to get good images for websites, etc.. You will learn best practices for importing, managing, and protecting digital images on your computer, photo editing, and file preparation for various methods of output. It is recommended that participants bring their digital camera to the first class. Don’t own a camera? Camera loan and rental options will be discussed.
