The International Resource Center (IRC) was established in the Fall of 2009 as a space where international students and culturally curious locals can gather. The IRC was housed in what was formerly the MU Learning Lounge, but has since moved to the first floor of the Student Experience Center.
ISOSU and the Campus Alliance for International Resources (CAIR) partner with various groups on campus to make services available at the IRC to those who seek them. For example, the International Welcome Center (held in the IRC) functions during the summer to provide assistance to new international students and their families by answering questions and introducing fellow international students
The IRC is a step towards achieving OSU’s 2006 Diversity Action Plan by providing a safe, welcoming, comfortable space for the promotion of international understanding and the celebration of diversity on campus on a daily basis. The presence of an International Resource Center on campus is integral to building and strengthening community at OSU and Corvallis. This student-led initiative, which is strongly supported by the International Programs office and informed by Intercultural Student Services, is in keeping with the ground-breaking progressive stance that OSU takes on supporting people with diverse backgrounds and interests.
Beginning in 2015 the IRC was granted a new place to call home in the Student Experience Center (SEC) and roughly doubled in its size.
