In March, 2014 we hosted a sustainable food symposium to discuss what sustainability of food even means. Several student groups working on different aspects of the food system (production, consumption, access, etc.) participated by presenting on the work they are doing and its significance in improving our food system on campus and beyond! We also held a screening of the film Ingredients, a documentary on the local food movement and followed it up with a discussion on what local means, how it can improve our food system, and what challenges are associated with it. The entire event was paired with a delicious three-course dinner featuring lots of fresh, local ingredients from nearby farms!
