Going Beyond Green is an SSI program available to all student organizations, Greek Life, and other student departments. It aims to make holistic sustainability an accessible goal and outcome for all student groups on and off campus. This is done through multiple channels and spheres to become Going Beyond Green Certified, including environmental, economic, and social sustainability. There are four levels of certification: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.

So what do you do now?

  1. Schedule a time to meet with the Going Beyond Green team, email Tara Dunn at ssi.lab.facilitator@oregonstate.edu.

  2. If your group chooses to become Going Beyond Green Certified, first you’ll decide which level of certification you’d like to reach. Every certification level requires a different amount of engagement and dedication of the following factors: workshops, behavior changes shown through pictures you take, and a 1-2 page written reflection.

  3. Decide if you want to go for a Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum Certification Level.

  4. Decide which workshops you want to engage in.

  5. The photos you submit must be members of your organizations making sustainable behavior changes. What kind of behavior changes do we mean? It can be photos of you…

    • Installing LED light bulbs into your organization space

    • Composting at an event

    • Utilizing local, organic foods for group meetings/events

    • Holding a sign of specific things you have learned (i.e. importance of understanding one’s privilege, power/oppression dynamics, importance of ethical sourcing, etc.)

    • Carpooling to meetings/events

    • Cooking a meal together with ethically sourced ingredients

    • Whatever you can think of!

  6. Once all workshops, reflections and photos are completed, you can come into the SSI Office to get your certificate!
