Intro to media


This workshop is your first step toward's getting involved in media. All members of OMN are required to take this workshop before taking on any assignments for any OMN medium or publication.
In this course, you will learn how to make work that matters to your audience, how to keep people engaged, and the power of free speech. Whether you are writing, shooting video, or hosting a radio show, the skills you learn in this course will take you to the next level.

Studio Cameras

Friday, Sept 28, 3pm

Monday Oct. 1, 5pm

In this workshop, you will learn how to work under the pressure of a live broadcast to deliver high quality images using our studio cameras.

 

Studio Audio

Wednesday, Oct. 3, 5pm

Audio is critical to a live broadcast. This workshop teaches you about microphones and our audio board, and how to determine whether you have high quality audio before going live.

 

Switcher

Monday Oct. 8, 5pm

Team dynamics come into play during every live broadcast. It's the job of the person operating the switcher to take directions from the Director and execute them for a live broadcast. The workshop will cover the Ross Acuity switcher and how to use it during a live broadcast, as well as how to take directions during a high-pressure situation.

 

Studio Lights

Wednesday, Oct. 3, 4p

This workshop shows how to set up and use studio lights, giving you a critical eye about the quality of the lighting during a shoot.

 

Geevs Video Playback

Monday, Oct. 15, 5pm

This workshop covers how to cue videos for playback during live broadcasts.

 

Xpression Graphics

Monday, Oct. 29, 5pm

The Xpression system allows you to create on-screen graphics during live TV broadcasts

 

Jib Camera

Monday, Oct. 22, 5pm

The jib camera is a versatile piece of equipment that allows you to do shows from different angles and use different moves. Learn how to enhance your visual storytelling with this specialized equipment.

 

Show Directing

Monday Nov. 5, 5pm

The director is in charge of the entire team, and must communicate instructions clearly and efficiently under tight deadlines and pressure. This workshops will teach you about how to maintain a calm demeanor amid the hustle and bustle of a live broadcast and how to get the most out of your team.

 

Floor Directing

Monday Nov. 12, 5pm

Learn to be the boss of the studio! The floor director is the person in charge of the studio during a live broadcast, and this training teaches you how to lead a team, keep others on task, and ensure a smooth broadcast.

 

Teleprompter

Monday, Nov. 19, 5pm

Don't let your anchor become the next Ron Burgandy! This workshop teaches you how to control the teleprompter system so anchors can read their scripts on the air.

Video Editing Basics

Wednesday, Oct. 10, 5pm

This workshop covers the basics of video editing on Adobe Premiere. For anyone who wants to be a visual storyteller, this is essential.

 

KBVR FM Trainings for dj's, podcasters, and announcers

All-DJ Meeting - All returning KBVR-FM DJs must attend the all DJ meeting to select your timeslot for the year and learn important information about the station.

New DJ Orientation - If you are new to KBVR-FM and want to become a DJ or Podcaster, you are required to attend this training

Sports play-by-play Orientation - KBVR broadcasts live OSU sports, including football and basketball. Do you think you have what it takes to call games for KBVR?
