Why apply?

The Sustainability Leadership Program pairs passionate students with campus departments and Corvallis community organizations working to solve local and global sustainability challenges through research, education, and community service. You’ll gain hands-on experience in the sustainability field as a member of the Sustainability Leadership Cohort. As a cohort member, you’ll contribute to projects that support OSU or Corvallis’ sustainability goals and develop your leadership experience and transferable professional skills through mentorship, networking, and professional development.

Choose your path:

Have an idea for a sustainability research project that can be applied to campus? Work with a faculty mentor to submit a Sustainability Research Project proposal. 

Have an idea for an awesome sustainability project in a campus department or Corvallis non-profit? Pitch it to them to apply to create a position for 2017-2018!

Time commitment

Positions range from 10-15 hours per week at the project host site, plus approximately 10 hours per term attending mandatory workshops with the Sustainability Leadership Cohort.   

Pay rate

$10.05 per hour.

Internship Credit

Students can enroll for internship or practicum credits through their departments (optional).


Positions will be open to all OSU Corvallis undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled in at least 6 credits per term and have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 (undergraduates) 3.0 (graduates) or higher. Students who are exclusively enrolled through eCampus or Cascades campus are not eligible. Students will be hired as employees of the Student Sustainability Initiative but will be directly supervised and mentored by the faculty/ staff member at their fellowship site.
